Well, since the original S/T was pronounced dead on Monday April 7th, us regulars had to find something else to do rather then go to the "relaunched S/T", so Pauly Crush and Cesar tag-teamed a last minute party at Cesar's house including hunch punch, 2 kegs of yuengling (mmmm), hoola hoop diving, ipod music, and the company of good, fun-loving, loyal people.
As Cesar (and like 50 other people) would say...it was Tropical!

Well, this was the last ST as we all have come to know it. Although, the thing was, we didn't know it at the time. On Monday April 7th, Pauly Crush and Firestone severed ties. Subsequently, everyone who was a part of the original S/T crew, including all djs, all promoters, and photographers (myself and kappow), all followed with Pauly out of sheer respect and loyalty.
So this will be my final S/T photoset. It was an awesome ride and it's ashame it came down to all this...but trust me, something better is on the way!

Melanie and I will be hitting up each Spring Training event here in Orlando, then heading to Miami sometime early Friday morning.
Friday Afternoon - Party hopping between Franki Chans IHEARTCOMIX Showcase at The Raleigh Hotel and Pauly and Mikes (Subversive and Stereohype) WINDISH AGENCY Showcase Pool Party at South Seas Hotel right next door. There is also special guests at the Windish Showcase that I am allowed to hint at: They were here very recently, so I just pray you can guess who!
Friday Night - Fools Gold Showcase at The White Room (where i shot the Girl Talk afterparty in Feb) w/ A-Trak, Sindin, LA Riots, etc
Saturday Afternoon - I'm doing a photobooth type setup at Ultra Fest for URB Magazine. That should be neat! Then I can shoot the rest of the event, buuuuuuuut I might go here or instead...

If it weren’t for high tech cell phones and digital cameras, a typical Thursday night at Club Firestone would have most people running to check their calendars to make sure that they haven’t somehow traveled into the eighties. Surrounded by latex, sequins, and hairspray, it’s easy to get confused. Filled to capacity (around 1500-1600 people), however, this Thursday was different. The day-glo was still present and the pants were just as tight, but it was the only Florida stop on the Myspace Music Tour, and the club felt distinctively different.
On a regular basis, there are plenty of musical acts to get the crowd going (Residents Pauly Crush, Miss Fit, Justin Scott, Ge30n, and Y-Not along with international acts and DJs such as Flosstradamus, Kid Sister, Girl Talk, Tommie Sunshine, Felix Cartal, and Boys Noize just to name a few), but with a lineup that includes international sensation DJ Mehdi and electro-superstars Justice, there seemed to be a particularly intense amount of energy inside Firestone.
Two of Saturday/Thursdays residents, Justin Scott and Miss Fit (formerly Bodywerx) started the night, soon followed by Mehdi, who took the floor by surprise, quickly fueling the floor with energy, spinning tracks that are both recognizable to the usual S/T crowd and some previously unheard. With the dance
floor completely covered, there were still a few brave souls who did their best to dance where they could. While everyone appeared to be enjoying Mehdi's selection and mixing for the evening, it was obvious; the crowd was there for Justice and were aching to turn their feet and ears to the main stage behind them...waiting for that big black curtain that hid Justice's impressive stage display to open up.
The curtain opens; a giant cross adorns the middle of a huge sound board with stacks of giant amplifiers on both sides. The main act rightly deserved that attention. Looking at the stage, anyone could easily assume they were about to witness a great rock band blow their minds. The DJs, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, collectively known as Justice, walk out and immediately whip the room into frenzy. There is barely standing room, but everyone is dancing. As they play the songs that have made them popular, including "Waters of Nazareth", "We Are Your Friends", and Grammy nominee for electronic song of the year "D.A.N.C.E.", you can barely hear yourself think, but the entire room is singing along. The room is electric, the people are ignited.
They finish their set and perform their encores, which included various remixes of their hits (everyone sang along to each and every one no matter how many times a remixed song was already played).
Justice (Xavier, at least) moved away from the giant stage to the turntables back on the other side of the room. Mehdi, once again enters the VIP-area-turned-DJ-booth, to tag team with Xavier until almost the end of the night with Pauly Crush hopping on to close the night out and send everyone home with memories of a pretty freaking amazing night!.
Thank you Firestone, Saturday/Thursday, Pauly Crush, Mike Feinberg, and all else involved for bringing in one of the biggest current electronic acts right now for their only FL tour stop and for putting on a perfect production and awesome show!

If any of you were around for Girl Talk's first visit to Orlando / Club Firestone back on October of '06, you should remember how much of an insane show it was. It still ranks up there as one of Saturday/Thursday best national act performances to this day (right up there with any of the DJ Funk shows).
Back then Firestone had only half the floor open due to the ongoing renovations...big stage was covered up, there was pretty much no VIP section, and only one operational bar on the floor. So needless to say, it was jam packed in there and Girl Talk was fresh on the scene with his glitchy supermashups.
These "remastered" photos are from that '06 show. I call this series the...

My new flash did me well this past Thursday! It was neat to actually like my photos again, haha.
This was the official Wu-Tang afterparty and you can't technically call it an afterparty if the first party never freaking ends. Wu was scheduled to perform until 11 or 11:30 tops, but they didn't get off stage til 1am! While I know some people enjoyed them playing thaaaaaat long, I myself, was anxiously awaiting to listen to some jams from Bodywerx and Pauly Crush and go flash-crazy.
You know, for seeing those DJin fools week in and week out for over a year now, I sure do never get tired of them, they are that good!

XXXMAS with DJ funk! This Thursday (Dec 20) @ FIrestone! Open bar every 30!Come on, we all know DJ Funks shows are pretty much the epitome of what Firestone is all about. Dancing, getting wasted, going nuts, having fun. And anyone who has been to a DJ Funk performance before knooooooooows all of that does indeed happen, and then some!

DJ Orgasmic definitely pulled the party out for Orlando at this past weeks Saturday/Thursday at Firestone! He's part of the Paris Terror Club and the Institubes label and he continued where PTC left off last time they hit Orlando...leaving us in awe and respect for those wild Parisians, their dj skills, and their ability to throw 'The Fun' down!
